Nokia have announced a new technology called Wibree, which they hope to oust Bluetooth with. It works with a similar result, although has slightly slower data transfer rates. However, it's ten times more energy efficient than Bluetooth currently is, which has got to be a good thing when you consider how much quicker the battery draines in many handsets when Bluetooth is switched on. It's also got a smaller chip, which means an even smaller phone. They really are at risk of disappearing in amongst pocket lint some time soon...
