Whilst Apple and frantically putting their finishing touches to their movie download service, it seems Amazon has pipped them to the post, if only by a few days.
Amazon Unbox will not be compatible with iPods, or Macs, and indeed not with any version of Windows older than XP. A range of film and TV studios have signed up, making their content available for $3.99 per TV episode, $3.99 for temporary film download and up to $14.99 for permanent download. These won't be available for burning onto a DVD however.
Amazon currently own imdb.com, one of the worlds most popular movie information sites.
